How to Change Your Privacy Settings

Many girls and young women like to express themselves on social media. Whether through posts or pictures, it’s nice to have a space to share stories, experiences, and connect with others. We can use the privacy settings to control how much others see. Knowledge is power! So, let’s begin:
How to: Adjust Your Privacy Settings
- Go to your own profile.
- Click the “…” icon.
- Select “View Privacy Shortcuts”.
- Review and change:
- Who can see your stuff
- Who can contact you
- Blocked users
- Go to your own profile.
- Tap on the gear icon beside your username in the top right corner.
- Scroll down to the “Account” heading
- From here, you can:
- Edit your profile
- Change your password
- Make your account public (everyone can see your posts) or private (only your followers can see your posts).
Snapchat
- Tap at the top of your camera screen
- Tap the gear icon in the top right hand corner of your Profile screen
- Scroll down to the ‘Who Can…’
- Here you can select ‘Contact Me‘ or ‘View My Story‘
- Tap ‘My Friends‘ or ‘Everyone‘ to update either of these settings.
- Tap the back button to save your selection.
Please Note:
- If you select ‘Everyone’ even Snapchatters you haven’t added will be able to send you Snaps.
- If you post a Snap to your Story prior to customizing your settings, it is possible they may still be able to view it.
- From the “Me” tab, tap on the gear icon.
- Select “Settings”.
- Select the account you’d like to edit.
- Under “Protect my Tweets,” tap the switch to “On” to make all future tweets visible only to your followers.
